Founding Principle

The science of immune activation

Regulated cell death is not immunologically silent — in the right circumstances, it is immune activating.

Regulated cell death releases DAMPs and antigens

When cells die in a regulated fashion, they release damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and antigens that broadcast a distress signal to the surrounding immune environment.

Innate immune cells are recruited and activated

DAMPs and antigens engage dendritic cells and macrophages, triggering maturation, antigen uptake, and presentation — converting a local cell death event into a coordinated immune response.

An adaptive immune response is mounted

Activated dendritic cells present antigens to CD8+ T cells, generating a targeted cytotoxic response — building a coordinated, systemic immune response.
